Has anyone ever tried to build or use HDF 4.x on a Windows machine running 
cygwin?  We have some software, originally developed for Unix, which we've 
ported to Windows via cygwin.  We want to add the capability to save data 
in an HDF file, but that means getting HDF to work under cygwin as well.
